My faith is shaken

They broke the news to us at muster first thing Monday morning.

"Scott and Jackie Carmichael died in a car accident on the weekend."

There was silence. Then all hell broke loose. What?! NO!!! Impossible! They were here in the Org on Friday!

Then whisperings, murmurings, pondering the enormity of it - the grief, the loss, the confusion - and the doubt.

Jackie and Scott were OT VII - at least Scott was.

And OTs are CAUSE OVER LIFE.

OTs do NOT die in car crashes.

Did anyone ever say that? I'm not sure. It would have been futile anyway. They would have been glared at disapprovingly and told they had hidden standards on what "cause over life" really meant.

Hidden standard - An unrealistic standard by which one measures the effectiveness of Scientology auditing. (I'm paraphrasing here.) According to xenu.net:
The notion of a "Hidden Standard" is Scientology's escape clause, sleight of hand, the place where the excuses are made for Scientology not working.
Someone - I don't remember who - spoke calmly, soothingly, reassuringly. It was all fine. Other OTs had been in touch with them telepathically after the accident, and all was well.

Bullshit. I didn't buy it. Not for a second. I knew it wasn't fine. How did I know that? Because they had a young son, travelling in another car, who survived. That's how I knew.

Maybe they were PTS or out ethics - because OTs do not die in car crashes.

So being $250,000 in debt (or so rumour had it) in 1989 to pay for training and auditing - would that qualify?

In any event, Scott and Jackie were dead. And my faith was irreparably shaken.

  1. I noticed that our C/S had disappeared and all of a sudden I discovered she had died of cancer.
"Lucille PODVA, died of ovarian cancer, new OT7, around 30 years old. She was snr CS of the org of Paris (France)" cf They should have not died.
My boss made a comment saying she waited too long before going onto the next level, but it didn't made any sense to me, she was OT VII !!! just one step before the final step of the bridge and Dianetics was supposed already to produce miracles. There were other people that I knew who were at least OT III or at the top of the bridge and died of cancer too.
I was supposed to sell the only thing I had, my small apartment and pay for OT III a second time, hoping I could do a lot in co-audit. If I had done that I couldn't have gone up the bridge because of the modifications that Miscavige introduced, the new E-Meter, the new materials, the disappearance of the Saint Hill Briefing Course, etc. I would not have a roof above my head and would have been broke. Luckily enough I decided to sell the flat in order to go away, buy a house somewhere else and quit Scientology altogether. It was the wisest decision of my life. I had a friend on staff who was OT VIII. Apparently she's got Alzheimer now, but of course this kind of news is swept under the carpet because it would be bad PR. Scientology is not a religion! It is nbot a business either, because if it were a business, it would have to sell good products in exchange for money, but it cannot because there are no clears and no OTs so Scientology as we know it is just a tax exempt fraud. It it were honest they would tell you: "OK, you are not a big being like TC or DM, but if you make it to OT V you'll be able to lift a post stamp with your mind and one you got to OT VIII and got rid of all those body thetans...boy ! you'll be able to stop a combat helicopter blazing all its guns at you just by postulates, that's how a thetan operates in the MEST universe you see? Well I think "Brick" (Ron) as they used to call him in Helena will stay in target 2 and will never be able to come back.

  2. I had noticed at Paris Org that the C/S had disappeared. She was very nice, still young, maybe in her late 30s; 2nd generation and had gone through a lot of training and auditing. I don't remember whether she was OT V or OT VII. Later on I learned she had sied from cancer
